Still curious about what the Utah Student 25 is all about? Let’s break it down.
-Utah Student 25 is an awards competition that recognizes the top student-run businesses in the state of Utah. It is modeled after the INC. 500 list of top privately owned businesses.
-This is the first year of the competition, but it will be an annual event hosted by different Universities and Colleges each year. This year BYU is hosting it.
-Eligible contestants are students attending a College or University in the State of Utah that are at least part owners in their companies that they are currently running. Eligibility requirements can be found here: http://tiny.cc/oDLKu
-October 12 is the deadline for students to nominate themselves or nominate their friends. Businesses will be judged on growth and profitability. Even the smallest of businesses have a chance.
-The top 25 businesses will be recognized at the Awards Gala Thursday, November 5th, at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake. The top student-run business will receive a billboard on I-15, a cover story in Utah CEO magazine, and the opportunity to meet with the top entrepreneurs and angel investors in the state.
-Current nominated businesses types include: Photography businesses, planner and calendar manufacturer, trash collection services, jewelry dealers, sports training for coaches and players, and web technology developers.
